Buckfast queens from Blekinge
Open-mated Buckfast queens (F1) from our registered breeder queen – carefully reared in Asarum. Calm bees, strong drive and low swarming tendency.
High honey production
Hard-working bees with strong drive – colonies that build up quickly and bring in a lot of nectar.
Calm and gentle
The bees stay calmly on the combs and are easy to work with. Suitable for both hobby and commercial beekeepers.
Low swarming tendency
Selected genetics to keep swarming to a minimum.
Inspected apiary
Before we ship queens, the apiary is inspected by an official bee inspector. You get queens from a checked, healthy apiary.

This year’s queens are sold out, but you can already join the queue for next season. Pre-ordering is free and non-binding – we’ll get in touch when the queens are ready.
Pedigree
Our queens are reared from our officially registered breeder queen B185(ALP)25 with documented German lineage via B346(FJO). The mother was mated at the isolated mating station Lautenthal in Germany. Her daughters mate freely here in Blekinge – hence the designation F1.
The full pedigree is in the German GdeB database and goes back to the 1960s and Buckfast Abbey.
We are members of the Swedish Buckfast Breeders’ Association (Föreningen Svensk Buckfastavel, FSB), breeder code ALP, and registered beekeepers with the County Administrative Board (Länsstyrelsen).

Instrumentally inseminated queens
We have set up our own equipment for instrumental insemination. For next season we plan to offer inseminated Buckfast queens as well – with fully controlled mating and known lineage on both the maternal and paternal side.

Frequently asked questions
How long will the queen last in the cage?
Ideally introduce her within a couple of days. Keep the cage at room temperature, out of direct sun and draughts, and put a drop of water on the mesh once a day.
What if the queen arrives dead?
Before shipping, we film a short video showing that the queen is alive. If she still arrives dead, film yourself opening the unopened package and send us the video the same day. We will then send a new queen free of charge.
When are the queens shipped?
We ship Monday to Wednesday, so the package isn’t left sitting at the post office over the weekend.
What does open-mated (F1) mean?
The queen is a daughter of our breeder queen but has mated freely with drones in our area. Her traits can therefore vary a little more than in a queen mated at a mating station.
What is an Opalith disc?
A small numbered disc glued to the queen’s thorax so you can easily find her in the colony.
How do I pay?
Payment is by Swish. You’ll receive the details when we confirm your order.
